The Project Engineer (Compounding) will work closely with internal manufacturing teams and the engineering group to develop custom compounds used in the manufacture of components and assemblies for the medical device industry. He or she will utilize experience and technical expertise in polymers to develop compounds that meet specific performance criteria and optimize processing and equipment parameters in order to achieve performance, quality, and output requirements for the compounds. He or she is also responsible for daily production support, quality improvement programs, and capital projects in the compounding area. Must have a Master's degree in Engineering with a concentration in Plastics or Polymers and two (2) years of hands-on, industrial work experience in twin screw compounding. ***The Employer will also accept a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a concentration in Plastics or Polymers and five (5) years of hands-on, industrial work experience in twin screw compounding in lieu of the Master's degree and two (2) years of experience requirements. Experience must include design/development of compounding tooling and screw designs; processing knowledge of polymers, additives, and fillers used in the compounding of plastics; and processing knowledge of elastomers. Must have current authorization to be permanently employed in the United States.
